English teaching for Village children

TEACH TO LEARN

On 10th May, 2009 evening cohort II fellows (Chandrasekhar and I) went Kalmeshwar temple, near Unkal for informing about English classes to Unkal local children. But children were not available and informed local person and conveyed him to gather children next day morning.

While teaching about tenses to students

On 11th May, 2009 morning we went to conduct class but the key person told still children are sleeping so we came back, we believed on him it was our fault. So we thought to change our strategy. At that day evening we went again same community and

With students

conducted a leadership activity by this activity local children attracted and through them we planned to gather students for conducting activity and Informed children to gather on 12th may, morning at 6 o’clock.

On 12th morning with yoga class we started our activity and at 6:30 a.m. English class started. Initially I tested about grammatical knowledge in students, through thought provoking questions and writing on drawing small sheet collected information about their English reading and writing. It gave me Idea about changing my views and set those according to children understanding.

Person related information providing to students

ON 17 may 2009 early morning after performing yoga, 7th to 10th students gathered in group and I informed them till now what they learnt about grammar those all things revised and they have to tell the answer. This activity conducted through power point presentation. I prepared questionnaire about Ist person, IInd person and third person. Children got interest learning through PPT.

18th may I taught Verb meaning with simple examples and asked examples by them, it helped me to know their understanding about my teaching. The children were very sharp they reply answer in their understanding manner.

For fast English learning told them to write 100 words in English and given 30 Verbs with kannada meaning instructed and made them to write and memorize.Explained about 3 tenses in English, and instructed them to make small sentences, and gave them as a home work these all. Student now they are making small sentences.

As my personnel interest I have conducted English grammar classes for community children and my intention behind it was to create interest in children about English learning and in future they should continue this interest in learning English and on last day as per evaluation motivated students that they should not loose interest in learning.
